What does “Phase 1” mean and why is that our team name?
“Phase 1” is a term frequently used in the network marketing industry that refers to first stage of business building, it also called the “Activity Phase”. There are four other phases, but this the only phase you ever want to be in. On this team we believe that leaders should lead by example, and should be “coach from the field” rather than manage from an “ivory tower”. We believe that the speed of the leader is the speed of the pack!
Here is a list of the four phases.
Phase #1: The Activity Phase. In this stage you are exposing people, doing presentations, marketing memberships, and recruiting. You are highly productive, focusing on IPA (Income Producing Activities) and you are leading by example, letting your actions speak louder than your words. THIS IS THE ONLY PHASE YOU EVER WANT TO BE IN.
Phase #2: The Management Phase. This occurs when your activity has paid off, you’ve gotten promoted, you now have a team and so because of that you think that it’s okay to slow down your personal activity and enter management mode. Instead of exposing new people you start “managing” the people your sponsored rather than “leading” them by example. Instead of exposing new people, you start telling your team to do so instead. Associates in this stage start to think that they are “above” marketing memberships, doing presentations, and recruiting and that that’s only the job of new people.
Phase #3: The Decomposition Phase. This is where your personal activity and production has slowed down drastically and you are becoming more and more like a supervisor at a job rather than the leader of a dynamic business. You’re barely, if ever, bringing new people into the business personally and you’re instead spending the majority of your time trying to manage your people’s people and cracking the whip on them “telling” them to go out expose people and produce instead of doing it yourself.
Phase #4: The Death Phase. This is where your lack of personal activity and production has caught up to you and it has duplicated throughout your organization. You and your team’s production has come to a screeching halt and everyone is looking around playing the blame game and making excuses. This occurred because everybody was so busy telling everyone else what to do that they forgot the cardinal rule: To always PHASE 1 and to never take your foot of your personal activity pedal!
We chose to name our Team “Phase 1” because we wanted to build an entire culture around the principle of staying in Phase 1 at all times. We wanted to be the type of team that encourages activity, is highly productive, and is built around making sure that everyone leads by example.
Luckily, if you’re a member of this team we’ve built an entire system designed to allow you to stay in Phase 1 at all times without you ever having to get bogged down into the management aspect of this business. As long as you make sure that every associate on your team knows about this site and has registered their email address and cell phone number, most of your job as a sponsor will be taken care of. All you have to do is stay in touch with your team, encourage them to watch the training videos on this site, and have them plug into the events in their region. If you do this you’ll have a very low maintenance business that affords you plenty of time to focus on bringing on board new people. Your main goal is to bring people on board and let our systems train them.
Does being in Phase 1 mean you don’t spend time developing your team?
Not at all! Don’t misinterpret our Phase 1 philosophy and think this means that we don’t help out our new team members or we orphan anyone we bring on board. What we don’t believe in is associates developing the attitude that once they’ve got a little team going that they’re too big-time or too important to have to personally produce. We are huge on team building and very much against recruiting people and not supporting them! That’s why we created this site. We created it as a support system for our team, so that no one no matter where they live can say that they didn’t get trained well or felt out of the loop. Furthermore, our entire team’s business and training model is built around reaching down to our newest team members and making sure they get paid and promoted by talking to their prospects for them and with them. Our goal is to talk to all of our team’s prospects either in person or via a three-way call to make sure they are exposed professionally and effectively rather than just telling a new person to do it themselves. We do this so that every new associate joining our team gets maximum support and maximum results! Helping to our new associates by contacting their prospects in the above mentioned ways is very much in line with our team’s philosophies. Always remember, the Phase 1 philosophy is about DOING activity and getting in the trenches rather than just telling others to do it and report back.
Here are a few of our team’s philosophies.
1) We lead by example: We stay in PHASE #1 The speed of the leader determines the speed of the pack!
Example: On a dogsled the lead dog determines the speed of which all other dogs follow. Remember, if you’re not the lead dog the view never changes. Leaders lead by example and people prefer to be led rather than managed. Anybody would rather watch and follow a leader than listen to one. So you as a leader must seek to create the results that you want your team to emulate. Everything you do, good or bad duplicates. If you want your team to produce then stay in Phase 1 and your will duplicate this. Here’s a HUGE TIP for managing your time: 80% of your time should always be spent on new business development.A great accountability question to ask yourself is “If everyone on my team did what I did today would we have made any money?” If the answer is “No” then step up your activity so that the next time you ask yourself that question the answer is “Yes”.
2) We operate on Level 3 Urgency!
The 3 Levels of Urgency
In order to demonstrate the 3 levels of urgency picture these 3 scenarios:
Pretend that I frantically run into a restaurant and interrupt your meal and say “I need your help! My car is on fire! All the doors are locked and my wallet is in the car!”..... You may or may not try to help me get my wallet out of the car. You may try to help, but the minute it looks too scary you’ll probably decide it’s not worth the risk. You’ll convince yourself that it’s not that important, and you’ll most likely quit. This is Urgency level #1
Now pretend that I frantically run into a restaurant and interrupt your meal and say “I need your help! My car is on fire! All the doors are locked and MY KID is in the backseat! .... You’d probably drop your fork, run out of the restaurant doors, and help me to break into my car to rescue my child. This is Urgency level #2
Now lets pretend that I frantically run into a restaurant and interrupt your meal and say “I need your help! My car is on fire! All the doors are locked and YOUR KID is in the backseat! .... You’d probably throw your table out of the way, run through the restaurant wall, and rip the car door off the hinges with a Hulk-like ferociousness and rescue your child! Nothing could get in your way, slow you down or distract you from your path! This is LEVEL #3 URGENCY!!
Building on this level of urgency isn’t for everyone, but rather the people with very serious and passionate reasons for wanting to achieve success. If you have a big reason as to why you MUST succeed and if you are serious about achieving that goal then this is the Level of Urgency that you chase after your dreams on. We believe in building our businesses with the same urgency as if our kids were in the backseat of a burning car. Nothing distracts us, or gets in our way. Leaders of Phase 1 are laser focused and intense on achieving our personal goals, nothing gets in our way. The reason why people fail in life is that they pursue their goals like their “wallet is in the car” and the minute it “looks too scary” or hard they quit.
3) We realize that Professionals sort and Amateurs convince.
We at Phase 1, are professionals. This is a business about sorting through prospects not convincing or arm twisting people to see our opportunity. Example: In a deck of 52 cards there are always 4 aces. Lets pretend we had a contest between a professional and an amateur to see who could find the 4 Aces first. An amateur would flip over the 1st card and if it was a Jack they would take out some white out and a magic marker and try to change it into an Ace. After wasting time energy, and resources it might resemble an Ace but it wouldn’t be a true Ace! The Professional however would flip over as many cards as possible, on Level 3 urgency, until the 4 Aces were found! This is what Phase 1 professionals remember. We are sorting through people to find the Aces in the marketplace. Finding qualified leaders for our team is a sorting game. Regardless of experience or talent, who ever sorts through the most numbers always wins! Whatever your skill level, you can make up in numbers what you lack in skill. When it comes to sorting, Phase1 players will often be heard saying “Some will, some won’t, so what, next!” or “Tell me yes, tell me no, but tell me quick, cause I gotta go!” Remember, you can’t beat the numbers and the numbers can’t beat you! We are professionals, we sort!
4) We are more than a team we are a family.
T.E.A.M stands for: Together Everyone Achieves More. We work with the willing. We are in business for ourselves but not by ourselves. Our team mission is to help everyone achieve their personal and business goals. We do this through our system of personal development, training, and mentoring. We believe that if we help enough other people get what they want, we will in turn be blessed and can have everything that we want!
